Ardara Holiday Cottage at Clachan Seil

Seil is an ideal location for a Highland holiday. You can walk, fish, sail, study wild life, visit remote islands or just enjoy the peace and tranquility.

Accomodation

Ardara means the height of good gifts. It overlooks the beautiful sound of Seil and is situated less than a mile form the famous Atlantic Bridge and Tigh na Truish Inn. Ardara provides a self contained semi detached Self catering cottage at a very reasonable price. Ardara (Beag)

AROUND SEIL ISLAND

The Isle of Seil is about 11 miles south of the Oban. It is linked to the mainland by the fine old humpbacked Bridge known as the "Atlantic Bridge". In the early summer the bridge is covered with the rare Fairy Foxglove (Erinus alpinus) which gives the bridge a bonny purple haze,
(Clachan bridge is known as the bridge over the Atlantic as the tidal water which flows underneath comes from the Atlantic Ocean)
Built in 1792 by John Stevenson of Oban, legend has it that on completion, a horse pulling a cartload of hay was sent across the bridge to test its strength. (With no additional strengthening, forty ton trucks now regularly prove the quality of eighteenth century engineering.)

Sailing

Why not combine a week or few days in a cottage on Seil with a weekend or 5 day mid week sail on a cruising yacht.

Robert is a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and Principal of Westward Quest Ltd. He will be delighted to show you some of the beautiful less well known islands rich in history and wild life. Sail round Mull or visit Iona
Staffa, Oronsay or Colonsay.

Prices vary with the type of cruise and length but are typically £120 for a weekend and £228 for 5 days
