Central Scotland Ballet School Here at Central Scotland Ballet School we offer expert dance tuition to children and adults, under the guidance of Principal Jacqueline Clark. Boys and girls have the opportunity to study R.A.D. ballet, I.S.T.D. tap, modern and jazz and B.A.T.D. Acrobatics. There are also classes available for adults.

We maintain that each pupil is an individual - so, everyone can get the most out of dance in a fun learning environment and develop their skills to the best of their own ability. Students are also encouraged to sit graded exams in each dance style, from Primary grades to Advanced levels.

All pupils are given the chance to demonstrate their talents in annual displays and parent's days and often take part in galas, concerts, charity events and professional shows.

BALLET Our teachers are registered with the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) and we follow the R.A.D. guidelines and syllabus for classical ballet. Students are encouraged to enter for graded exams as well as regular workshops and short courses, including the Royal Academy of Dance summer schools. We follow curriculum guidelines from the R.A.D. for pre-school ballet classes with children aged 3-5. Classes are often themed and favourite themes include Under the Sea and The Magic Castle. The first section of the class involves exercises to develop coordination, body awareness and motor skills as well as listening skills. The second section, often themed, continues to develop listening, spatial awareness, movement, imagination and confidence and introduces some ballet basics appropriate to their level of development. Often, props such as ribbons, balls, musical instruments and scarves are used to compliment and encourage movement and musical response. The children often work with partners or in small groups to encourage cooperation and develop social skills. These classes are fun for both boys and girls, even if they do not intend to take up ballet classes when they start school.

JAZZ and MODERN This is the commercial style of dance you would see on pop videos, in musical theatre and on television. We have developed our own syllabus for modern and jazz dancing which is both fun and challenging for all abilities. The levels are Junior, Novice 1, Novice 2, Inter 1, Inter 2, Senior 1, Senior 2 and Advanced. Each level is grouped by age and ability. Every class begins with a warm-up appropriate to the children's ability which develops rhythm, coordination and body awareness as well as introducing basic dance steps. It is followed by a section of stretching exercises to improve general flexibility and posture. Time is spent learning and improving dance steps and new moves, including elements from the I.S.T.D. Modern Grades syllabus. Each class prepares a routine for our annual dance display, which may be any commercial style from rock'n'roll to hip-hop or musical theatre to pop. All students are also encouraged to audition for local theatre productions, both amateur and professional, to give them greater performance experience.....Set out above is just a taste of the classes we have to offer....for further details, please visit our website, or call on 01324 716425.
